Patrick Shares His Story

In 2011 I had given a big chunk of my savings to various christian projects; in my view 2012 was my year of rest i.e. until Pastor M challenged us during the associates meeting on Jan 7th. I remember looking at the pledge card and moaning inwardly “God not again!

I sat there paralyzed and haggled with God for a few minutes as I remembered the things I had done in 2011.

I instinctively decided not to give, but after a few minutes decided to make a deal with God..the deal was to cover me and ensure I don’t give any more money.

I pledged Ksh. 50,000 and told God that I expected him to provide i.e. it will not come from my pocket. I also told Him that anything above my net monthly salary will go to the pledge, and that the deal should be in effect until May 1st. (To put my story in context you should understand that for the previous 14 months I had not made a single penny over and above my monthly net income).

The 1st miracle happened when I noticed that my January pay had an extra 20,000/=. On further investigation I discovered that the accounting department had erroneously allotted me my yearly leave allowance early. I quickly gave God his due and anxiously waited to see which other creative way God will provide the 30,000 balance.

As the deadline quickly approached, I received a phone call on April 26th from a company that I had hired to chase a 3 year debt, I was informed that my debtor had delivered my cheque on that day. I had made a website for them 4 yrs ago (before I got employed), this could have easily been viewed as another coincidence. Until I started doing the math – the cheque was for 55k.

After paying tax and the debt collection company I was left with 33k. By now I was sure absolutely convinced that God was behind it! With the extra 3,000/= I paid my old business associate and the rest, as they say, is history. God had provided exactly the amount I had asked for within the time frame, and conditions we had agreed on.

Ever since then I have discovered that God is my friend, that He listens, that He understands, that He is approachable. I wish I had pledged more on that day cause now I know this move is not Pastor M’s plan but God’s plan. I have seen the Heaven’s invade earth to align my finances with this great plan. I will definitely pledge again… if we are faithless, He will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself (2 Timothy 2:13).

    • Hey Pato, long time friend. There is a perception that those who give have side businesses other than their full time job, NO! Its just a step of faith. Your testimony is so encouraging. Be Blessed. I concur with your encounter, i similarly found my self in the same situation. My contract states if i don’t invoice any amount equivalent to my salary, my salary is slashed my Kshs20,000. In the month of October i invoiced absolutely nothing but our God works in miraculous ways cause my salary was not slashed and on inquiring the lady in charge told me she just decided not to, i will give the whole amount to mavuno 3.0. This comes at a time when my salo has just been slashed by half meaning my pledge plan has been affected but somehow i have to clear the amount i pledged, i don’t know how but i have to do it. I have been in and out of jobs but i have never lacked, why, i love giving. I honour my tithe.
